in Tenei Village, Fukushima Prefecture～

Preamble

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Japan Autocamping Federation, the 89th FICC International Rally was held in Tenei Village, Fukushima, Japan from September 28 to October 6, 2019. The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 and the accompanying tsunami and accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station brought unprecedented disasters to the area. The rally was held with the slogan of and was a great success with the participation of about 800 campers from 14 countries around the world and many local residents. In order to reaffirm the significance of this rally and to guide future activities, I declare the following as the president of the Japan Autocamping Federation.

Declaration

I. Promotion of autocamping as tourism
Autocamping is a leisure activity that embodies the essence of tourism where people come out of their daily lives and come into contact with people, nature and culture. The fact that campers from around the world stayed at the auto campsite for 10 days during this rally led to the development of autocamp touring in Japan. Based on the results of this event, we will make further efforts to improve the environment for autocamp touring.

II. International exchange through autocamping
FICC International Rally is a festival of peace where campers from all over the world gather together across national, language, and ethnic differences, getting in touch with nature and culture of the venue, and deepening mutual friendship. As now tensions among governments in Asian countries are growing, it is highly significant that campers from Japan, Taiwan, Korea and China participated in this rally and interacted closely. Based on the results of this event, we will make further efforts to promote international exchange through autocamping.

III. Autocamping contributing to regional development
As Fukushima Prefecture is recovering strongly from the nuclear accident, the biggest damage it suffers is reputational damage. Under these circumstances, people from all over the world who experienced the actual situation of Fukushima with their own eyes helped to dispel the reputational damage. Based on the results of this tournament, we will make further efforts to promote the community through auto camps.

IV. SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in autocamping
Autocamping is a sustainable leisure activity that pursues harmony between people, nature and vehicles, while striving for a rich leisure life, symbiosis with people, and environmental conservation. This rally contributed to regional promotion and world peace by making the best use of the natural, cultural and tourism resources of the venue. Based on the results of this event, we will strive to further pursue sustainability in autocamping.
